Roary the Repair Lion says:

The most common cause of damage is a Push Rod bending.

If you need to replace this part a second time, and your the valves were set correctly, then you will need to take the engine apart and inspect the tappets and Cam Shaft for damage.

Things to check before purchasing:

  1. Be sure to inspect the the Cylinder Head, Rockers, Valves and Push Rods for damage and replace if necessary.
  2. You might need to replace the Rocker Cover Gasket if it splits during the repair (available in the Gasket kit.)

Rebuild Tips:

A) Be sure the Push Rods are located correctly in the Valve Lifter Tappets.

B) Once the engine has been fully rebuilt, set your Valve Lash Clearances:

  • Intake: 0.15-0.20 mm
  • Exhaust: 0.20-0.30 mm

(Set smallest first. Open to larger setting if it runs rough.)

You will need a Feeler Gauge to set your Valve Lash Clearances.
