These sometimes get broken when knocked. It is important to replace a broken and cracked cap cover as otherwise it can allow damaging particles into your engine, causing severe damage and a large repair bill!
These particles can scratch the inside of the cylinder, score the piston, and damage the piston rings resulting in lack of compression and burning oil. (See the piston product description on the model page for testing techniques.)
If the Air Filter is dirty, we highly suggest you replace it at the same time, and possibly give it a service.
