Replacement Piston Connection Rod made from tough aluminium.

* Always use a new gasket kit when rebuilding the engine * This engine uses "crush" gaskets which cannot be reused as old gaskets can result in loss of compression and failure to run or start correctly.

Roary the Repair Lion says:

The Con Rod sits between the Crankshaft and the Piston. As the engine fires it expands the fuel and in turn pushes the piston down. This Con Rod then pushes on the crankshaft creating engine rotation.

The "spike" on the Con Rod assists in distributing the oil within the crankcase ensuring lubrication to all the internal parts. This spike should point towards the Cam Shaft when installing.

When rebuilding the engine be sure to line up the punch marks on the Crankshaft and the Cam Shaft. If you do not do this the spark plug will not fire at the correct time and it can cause extensive damage to the internal working of the engine.

Once the engine has been rebuilt, set your Valve Lash Clearances to 0.015 inches OR 0.4 mm for both Intake and Exhaust. (If not running correctly, open the exhaust to 0.020 inches OR 0.5 mm).

You will need a Feeler Gauge to set your Valve Lash Clearances.
