Roary the Repair Lion says:

Flywheel Nut Torque: 75 N·m (7.6 kgf·m, 55 lbf·ft)

These do not need to be replaced very often, but when they do it is typically because the engine has overheated, causing it to soften and loose its shape. This then starts to catch on the recoil and often "shaves" the blades or cracks the whole fan. To prevent this from happening, be sure there is sufficient air flow around the Small Engine when it is running.

Be sure to remove any shavings from around the ignition coil, the recoil and within the cowling, before fitting the new Engine Fan.

To prevent the engine turning the full cycle and not allowing you to loosen or tighten the flywheel nut, we suggest stopping the engine from turning by removing the spark plug and feeding clean rope into the spark plug hole. Be sure to leave some rope out so you can easily retrieve it after.

Once fitted, be sure the flywheel is balanced when turning the engine. If there is an imbalance or play in the flywheel, this indicates there is damage to either the crankshaft, camshaft or there are other internal engine faults.
