Roary the Repair Lion says:
If you oil the rope with petroleum jelly it will stop the rope from fraying.
If your engine is hard to turn over, you need to reset your Valve Clearances.
This is required by all small engines until the engine is "broken in" and the piston and parts are settled into their positions. This is a simple job, and it is suggested you do this at the same time as you service the engine as the piston will leave metal shaving in your oil.
Reset your Valve Clearances settings to: (Instruction video below.)
- Intake: 0.015 inches OR 0.4 mm
- Exhaust: 0.015 inches OR 0.4 mm
(If not running correctly, open the exhaust to 0.020 inches OR 0.5 mm).
